Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. In it’s early stages it shows few symptoms, it’s painless and you’re not even aware it’s there. Forrest & Forrest has the distinction of being the first office in Charlotte to be ACE certified in a soft tissue management program to treat patients with periodontal disease.
Cleanings
Twice daily brushing and flossing are excellent for maintenance between office visits, but a healthy mouth and beautiful smile require routine care to stay that way. In keeping with the American Dental Association (ADA), we believe regular preventative dental care and routine visits are essential for keeping your teeth and gums strong and disease free.
At Forrest & Forrest our dental hygiene preventative program is more than “just a cleaning”. We follow an eight step process to continuing good dental health on a regular basis that includes:
• Oral hygiene instructions
• Monitoring your periodontal (gum) health
• Checking your teeth for cavities
• Prophylaxis (cleaning)
• Digital X-Rays (at specific intervals)
• Updating your medical history
• Visual oral cancer screening
• Identifi™ 3000 oral cancer screening

Identafi™ 3000
One person in the U.S. dies from oral cancer every hour. Rick factors are smoking, chewing tobacco and drinking alcoholic beverages. Nearly 25% of people who will develop oral cancer have no predisposing risk factors. Until recently the only method dentists had for signs of oral cancer were visual. Identifi™ 3000 is a handheld device that can help our dentists detect changes in the cells of the mouth, tongue and tonsils with real time results.
Digital X-Rays
At Forrest & Forrest we offer state-of-the-art technology with the use of digital x-rays. This procedure offers less radiation exposure and is viewable instantly. This process gives our dentists a much clearer image for diagnosis of any changes in your teeth that may need to be addressed.
Nightguards, Snoreguards, Bleaching Trays and Athletic Mouthpieces
We offer a full array of fitted protective gear for your teeth, whether for athletics, cosmetic or other reasons. Our professionals take impressions of your teeth and provide a total custom fit solution for grinding, snoring, athletic protection and teeth whitening.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth, usually the back permanent teeth, to prevent tooth decay. The sealant quickly bonds into the grooves and depressions of the teeth, forming a protective shield over the enamel of each tooth.
Dental Fluoride
Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It can also reverse early decay. Professional fluoride is in the form of a solution, gel or varnish and typically is applied with a cotton swab or brush.
Intraoral Camera
The intraoral camera is a revolutionary diagnostic dental tool used to diagnose and educate the patient. The tiny camera can be inserted into a patient’s mouth, taking pictures of the teeth and displaying the images onto a computer screen. Patients can view the areas that our dentists will be working on, making procedures easy to understand.
