CEREC-1 Same Day Crowns

CEREC One-Visit Restorations

It’s all about time. With the CEREC one-visit system, you can get a cracked or broken tooth repaired in a single visit. Why should you wait weeks for a new crown when you can have one the same day? At Forrest & Forrest Dentisty, you no longer need multiple appointments or temporary crowns that send you running for the phone when they break or fall off. CEREC crowns offer natural beauty and durability in a single visit. With CEREC, our doctors will renew your smile without impacting your busy lifestyle.

What is CEREC?

Get ready for a 21st century smile! The CEREC CAD/CAM system uses a high speed, high definition intraoral camera, computer software, and CAD milling chamber to allow us to custom design and fabricate a new restoration while you watch. Designed in Zurich, Switzerland during the 1980s, today’s 6th generation CEREC systems allow us to be more conservative than ever. With CEREC, there are no gooey impressions, no temporary crown, and best of all…no waiting! All of the work is done chairside in a single appointment. Additionally, all of our crowns are crafted from metal-free CEREC porcelain, creating a strong, natural-looking dental restoration that will blend in with the surrounding teeth.

Why CEREC?

Traditional crowns require a dentist to shave your tooth into a stump when it’s prepared, removing most, if not all, of the existing enamel from the tooth. This process dramatically weakens the tooth and exposes the inside structure to harmful bacteria that can cause the tooth to die or become abscessed in the future. The CEREC approach allows us to bring the tooth back to over 90% of its original strength. The CEREC porcelain is also very biocompatible. It is engineered to mimic the flexural strength, expansion qualities, and wear characteristics of human enamel. This means that a CEREC restoration will chew like a normal tooth, will flex like a natural tooth, and wear the opposing teeth just like a normal tooth would.

Implant Restoration

Dental implant restorations are performed by attaching crowns to implants anchored in the bone below the gum line. After the anchor has been surgically placed by an oral surgeon, bone attaches to the implant holding it firmly in place. A crown can then be attached to the implant. The end result is a strong, secure tooth that is virtually identical to your natural tooth.

Root Canal Therapy

Each of our teeth contains a long, thin strand of dental pulp, which provide the tooth with nutrients and nerves, that extends down to the tooth’s root. If the pulp becomes infected or injured, the pulp dies and the tooth dies as well. Root canals are designed to save such damaged teeth.

Mercury-Free Teeth Fillings

In traditional dentistry, amalgam fillings have been used for decades. Recently, though, there’s been a controversy in the dental world surrounding the mercury that is used in the makeup of traditional dental amalgam. This mercury can potentially seep into a patient’s mouth and expose them to unhealthy levels of the deadly element.

What are Mercury-Free Teeth Fillings?

A mercury-free tooth-colored filling is a composite resin made up of a combination of plastic, glass and silica. The composite resins are mixed and hardened into place, making them look real and natural, just like the other teeth in your mouth. The technology of creating these mercury-free composite fillings has greatly advanced, and while they were previously considered weaker than traditional amalgam fillings, a new combination of strong, durable materials now make a lasting filling that’s completely free of mercury.

What is the Advantage of Mercury-Free Teeth Fillings?

At Forrest & Forrest Dentistry, we strictly use mercury-free fillings for the health and well-being of our patients. These fillings are an effective way to prevent tooth decay or bacteria build-up in already damaged teeth. Mercury-free fillings protect the tooth the same way amalgam fillings do, but without the added risk of mercury exposure.

Primarily used for cosmetic reasons, tooth-colored composite fillings are now the preferred method of cavity fillings. They provide you with the natural, durable look of real teeth, enlightening your smile and brightening your day!

Extractions**

In only the most extreme and necessary cases—such as when a tooth’s roots are damaged beyond repair—we may extract a tooth in preparation for a restorative dental procedure. If you have any questions about tooth extractions, please feel free to contact us.

**Occasionally procedures require referral of treatment to a specialist. We have created a network of excellent specialists to meet our patient’s needs.
